National X-Ray Competency Test

The NXCT is required to be taken every 13 months by persons who operate cargo X-ray machines and complete current Training to Level E or higher and includes the full Module 7.

The NXCT is a computer based knowledge and observation test, if you do not hold a current NXCT certificate you cannot operate the X-ray machine.

Any individual who does not carry out X-ray screening activities for a period of 3 months must re-sit and pass the NXCT prior to re-commencing X-ray duties.

Each session includes an automated 30 minute recap presentation. We have a dedicated NXCT testing room and can accommodate up to six candidates on each session, test session times are as follows:

Monday to Friday:

  • 1st Session 10.00 hrs
  • 2nd Session 13.00 hrs
  • 3rd session 15.00 hrs.

If the candidate fails to reach the required standard for the NXCT Test there will be a re-sit charge of £25.00
